AP Minifort – A Versatile, Cost-Effective Solution

AP Minifort

For decades, American Products has strived to provide quality enclosures to protect key network equipment. Some enclosures in our lineup, such as the AP Fort shelters and AP Bunker below-grade enclosures, have been designed and developed to be more specialized and cater to specific needs. But, there is one particular enclosure we offer that is designed for versatility and, therefore, ready to meet a variety of needs. The AP Minifort is a small but mighty enclosure solution that provides great protection in a compact footprint. Let’s take a closer look at this enclosure and learn how it can help protect your network as well.

Exploring the AP Minifort

History & Purpose

As with many American Products enclosures, the AP Minifort was developed in direct response to a customer’s request.

At the time, American Products mainly focused on larger enclosure solutions. A telecommunications company approached us in search of an enclosure that offered much of the same protections but in a more versatile footprint. In return, we designed the AP Minifort, which ended up being a very popular item for a variety of organization types.

The AP Minifort provided organizations a more cost-effective enclosure solution. Its small footprint made it ideal for a variety of deployment options–the company could easily install it in a remote location on a pad, mount it on a pole or mount it on a wall. In addition, the AP Minifort was designed to be versatile and accept a variety of equipment and/or power solutions.

Through the years, American Products has refined the AP Minifort to meet the changing telecommunications industry’s needs and advancements. But it has never deviated too much from its roots.

The AP Minifort is still a very versatile, cost-effective enclosure solution for a variety of uses. From telecommunications equipment to fiber to HOA surveillance gear and more, the AP Minifort is ready.

Key Features

The AP Minifort is riveted with sealed seams. It has been tested and UL listed to 50/50E (equivalent to a NEMA 3R rating), which means American Products has gone the extra mile to ensure this enclosure will protect equipment for the long run. For extra durability, American Products only uses stainless steel hardware, which will withstand corrosion indefinitely.

The AP Minifort doesn’t come standard with a lot of features, allowing customers to customize it to their particular needs. It does feature lockable latches and adjustable racks. It is available in a variety of sizes-the smaller sizes feature 19” racks and the larger ones have 19” and/or 23” racks. It features a front access only so it can be mounted on the wall or pole without blocking a door.

Inside, it also features a quad convenience receptacle, which lets technicians plug equipment in at the site or run powered equipment inside the enclosure.

Because the AP Minifort has been in the lineup so long and is so popular, our team has become very deft at building it efficiently. This means that we can generally provide the AP Minifort with a minimal lead time.

Upgrades

As with most of the American Products enclosure lineup, we can customize the AP Minifort to meet specific environment and equipment needs.

One of the most popular options is climate control. We offer the AP Minifort with all heating and/or cooling options, i.e., an air conditioner, heat exchanger, heater, vented/passive cooling and/or fan-forced exhaust. We can also enhance the enclosure with battery trays or extra rails.

And, due to its versatility, customers will receive their choice of mounting hardware for securing to a pad, utility pole or building wall.

The AP Minifort is a one-of-a-kind enclosure that provides maximum protection and versatility in a compact, cost-effective package. But, despite being cost-effective, it is still built to be extremely rugged and provide the features organizations need to keep their network running right.
