What Is ETL Certification?
You might have noticed that the AP MINIFORT™, AP LIBERTY™ and AP FREEDOM™ enclosure lines manufactured by American Products bear the ETL Certification Mark. What does this symbol convey, and why is it important?
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) conveys a designation of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL), providing evaluation, testing, and certification of electrically operated products. NRTL organizations independently test products to applicable product safety specifications, such as those from Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and other standards writing bodies.
Edison Testing Laboratories (ETL) is recognized as an NRTL in the United States and, in a similar capacity, as a Testing Organization and Certifying Body in Canada by the Standards Council of Canada. A product bearing the ETL Certification Mark is determined to have met the minimum requirements of prescribed product safety standards. The Mark also indicates that the manufacturer’s production site conforms to a range of compliance measures and is subject to periodic follow up inspections to verify continued conformance.
The AP MINIFORT™, AP LIBERTY™ and AP FREEDOM™ enclosure lines manufactured by American Products bear the ETL Certification Mark with respect to UL 50, UL 50E, and CSA C22.2 No. 94.1-2 Standards. The scope of these standards apply to electrical equipment enclosures to be installed and used in non-hazardous locations, including additional environmental construction and performance requirements. The intent is to provide a degree of protection to personnel against incidental contact with the enclosed equipment.
Safety and quality are highly valued at American Products, and we strive to offer and deliver enclosures that meet customer requirements. Our team is always searching for new and improved best practices, and we seek to be a valued business partner to our customers by exhibiting honesty, integrity, professionalism, and hard work.
