About the AP PATRIOT
The AP PATRIOT is one of the original cabinets in the American Products enclosure family. Our team designed it more than 10 years ago.
The AP PATRIOT was specifically introduced to help organizations seeking to house a variety of active equipment, their battery backup system and more in one convenient location.
This enclosure features three different compartments. The main chamber provides 19” or 23” racks for stowing active or passive rack-mounted equipment. The second compartment is a sidecar compartment that can be used to store fiber slack or any equipment that doesn’t need to be mounted on a rack. The third compartment is at the bottom of the enclosure and is specifically designed for battery backup system storage. When fitted with 19” racks, the main compartment also features cable troughs. With 23” racks, there is not room for these troughs.
The main compartment is available with 32, 48 or 60 total RU capacities with front and rear racks installed. With the largest capacity, the cabinet will stand at a total of 74” tall, which includes the 16”-tall battery compartment and 58”-tall main compartment.
The sidecar is extremely large and features a wood backboard. Providers can use this compartment to store fiber slack or mount a variety of accessories, tools or equipment to the backboard. The backboard also features a cable pass-through that goes into the main compartment.
The battery compartment at the bottom is vented to allow passive cooling and will hold up to four standard telecommunications batteries. The compartment allows organizations to keep their battery backup near their active equipment, but still isolated from the rest of the equipment.
The PATRIOT has a total of five doors–two for the main cabinet, one for the sidecar and two for the battery compartment. All the doors are lockable for extra security.
The PATRIOT has a NEMA 3R rating, which means it’ll protect against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow and external ice formation. If spraying water is an issue, we recommend a NEMA 4 cabinet instead.
Available Upgrades
The PATRIOT comes standard with an extensive list of features, which means there aren’t many available options.
One of the most common options is a climate control system for the main compartment. Network providers that are going to deploy this cabinet to climates with extreme high or low temperatures can choose from a variety of climate control options, including AC units and heat exchangers.
Other options include a load center, generator plug and interlock, interior lighting, door alarms, insulation and laptop trays.
If you are looking for an enclosure solution that provides an extensive amount of storage, including rack space for active equipment, and allows you to store your battery backup close to the equipment, the AP PATRIOT might just be the enclosure solution you need. For some organizations, though, all the features aren’t necessary. We would then recommend other enclosures, such as the AP FREEDOM or AP LIBERTY. Both provide a variety of benefits and can easily be upgraded with optional features to meet your needs just right.
