AP Liberty® Fiber Distribution Hub
NEMA 3R & 4X FDH Enclosure for FTTH Deployment
The AP LIBERTY® is a rugged, cost-effective fiber distribution hub designed for outdoor fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment in rural and residential broadband applications. Rated NEMA Type 3R and 4X, this fiber distribution hub (FDH) enclosure delivers the weatherproof protection, field flexibility, and factory-ready configuration options that network builders need — without compromising on quality or scalability.
Available in multiple sizes, this fiber optic distribution cabinet scales to serve 144/288, 432, or 576 homes from a single enclosure, with a larger 864-port model available for higher-density PON network deployments.
Common Uses
- Fiber optics
- Networking
Purpose-Built for FTTH and PON Networks
The AP LIBERTY® fiber cabinet is engineered specifically to serve as the transition point between the passive optical network (PON) and the subscriber drop. Its logistics-style patch panels allow technicians to rapidly provision and reconfigure services in the field without relying on proprietary components — everything is compatible with industry-standard parts, keeping your supply chain simple and your deployment timelines on track.
For projects that benefit from advance preparation, the AP LIBERTY® FDH enclosure can be factory pre-configured and tested before it ever reaches the job site. Pre-configuration options include 50′ or 100′ pre-connectorized SC/APC pigtails, patch panels with adapters, LGX-style optical splitters, and splice trays. This factory integration option reduces installation time in the field and minimizes the risk of errors during deployment — a meaningful advantage for large-scale FTTH rollouts.
Standard Features of the AP Liberty® Fiber Distribution Hub
Every AP LIBERTY® fiber cabinet ships standard with the following features, built to telecom-grade specifications for outdoor fiber optic distribution.
- NEMA Type 3R & 4X protection – Protects equipment from falling dirt, dust, rain, sleet, snow, external ice formation, splashing water & hose-directed water
- Telcordia – Designed and built to Telcordia GR-487 specifications for outdoor telecom enclosures
- ETL Certified (4X models) – Tested to UL 50, UL 50E & CSA C22.2 No. 94.1-2 standards
- .125 aircraft-grade aluminum – Provides excellent corrosion resistance
- 304 stainless steel hardware – Provides extreme rust/corrosion protection in the field
- Solar shield roof (4X models) – Double-layer construction reduces radiant heat & internal cooling requirements
- Powdercoating – Standard Beige, Gray & White powdercoating provides more protection against corrosion – Durability proven via 720-hour salt spray test – Also available in custom colors
- 12-position ground terminal strip – Helps protect electronics in case of electrical shock
- Adjustable, numbered equipment racks – Available in 19” or 23” for easy shelf installation
- Lifting eyes – Simplifies unloading and pad or pole mount installation of the fiber cabinet
- 5-year warranty – Covers American Products components on all AP LIBERTY® FDH enclosures
Engineered for Outdoor Durability
Built from .125″ aircraft-grade 5052-H32 aluminum, the AP LIBERTY® fiber optic distribution cabinet resists corrosion and holds up in demanding outdoor environments. Every exterior fastener, hinge, and latch is Type 304 stainless steel — chosen because it will not rust in the field. Enclosures are powder coated in standard beige, gray, or white (custom colors available) and tested to a 720-hour salt spray standard per Telcordia GR-487 specifications.
A double-layer solar shield roof on 4X models reduces radiant heat buildup and lowers internal cooling requirements, protecting fiber optic components through seasonal temperature extremes.
NEMA 3R & 4X Protection, ETL Certified
This FDH enclosure meets NEMA Type 3R and 4X protection standards, defending against rain, sleet, snow, ice formation, splashing water, and hose-directed water. Four-X models are ETL certified and tested to UL 50, UL 50E, and CSA C22.2 No. 94.1-2 standards. Door gaskets are UL 94-rated EPDM material with a temperature rating of -40°F to +212°F. Three-point, quarter-turn padlockable stainless steel door latches provide secure, tool-resistant closure, and a 12-position aluminum ground terminal strip protects electronics against electrical faults.
Flexible Installation — Pole Mount or Pad Mount
The AP LIBERTY® fiber cabinet supports both pole mounting and pad mounting, giving installers flexibility across a wide range of deployment environments. A user-friendly bracket kit converts between configurations, and an optional 12″ mounting plinth with front and rear access panels provides cable slack storage for pad mount installations. Built-in lifting eyes allow safe hoisting during installation.
Inside, adjustable 19″ or 23″ numbered equipment racks — built to EIA standards and reversible between configurations — provide organized, scalable fiber management. Up to six sealing cable entry glands accommodate cables from 3/4″ to 1″ in diameter, with IP67-rated liquid-tight EPDM bushings for weatherproof cable entry.
The “Hot Slide” removable rack system is standard on all AP LIBERTY® models. It allows technicians to remove the rack and cables from the fiber cabinet without interrupting active service — reducing downtime during field maintenance or reconfiguration.
Five-Year Warranty
Every AP LIBERTY® FDH enclosure is backed by a five-year warranty (U.S. and Canada) against defects in materials and workmanship. American Products manages freight for all domestic warranty claims, so you’re not left handling return logistics on your own.
