Naval Acoustic Research Center
Lake Pend Oreille, ID
The U.S. Navy Acoustic Research Detachment uses the lake to test large-scale submarine prototypes because the deep depth provides acoustic properties similar to the open ocean. The results obtained from tests are extremely valuable to the Navy, especially in regard to submarine sonar dome development.
American Products built this custom AP FORT shelter with aluminum instead of the standard galvanized steel to meet unique weight considerations.
Advance Navigation & Positioning Systems
King George III Island, Antarctica
Chile, China, Uruguay, Korea, Argentina, Russia, Brazil and Peru have small research bases on this 440-sq. m. island. Surprisingly, the Chilean Air Force is the only one to house their airstrip’s navigational equipment in a shelter (shown above).
American Products custom-built this AP FORT shelter with heaters and additional weatherproofing and anti-corrosion features to withstand the harsh environment of Antarctica.
The Port
Bahamas
Port security manages their container scanning operations from inside this custom American Products Thermal AP FORT shelter. At 50’ above the ground, it’s the control center for checking every shipment for the presence of explosive and/or nuclear materials.
American Products custom-built this weatherproof enclosure out of aluminum due to the corrosive saltwater environment of the port.
