Hundreds of transformers were produced & shipped in 1 week in response to Hurricane Helene.
Background
American Products’ customer is a long-term client. They are a large power management organization with networks in the South U.S. Their customers, e.g., residents, hospitals, and stores, lost power when Hurricane Helene hit.
Challenges
Hurricane Helene left thousands of people and businesses across the Southeast region without power. The customer wanted to restore power to their customers as quickly as possible. They trusted that American Products could help. As a result, on a Monday, they called the American Products team and requested 221 pad-mounted transformers to be delivered by the following Friday.
As this was an unexpected request, the American Products team first needed to ensure we had the materials and manpower available to fulfill the order.
Solution
The American Products team quickly confirmed we had all the materials in-house to fulfill the order. We also met with the team producing the transformers to inform them of the request. We made them aware of the urgency of the product and how the products would be used to help other communities. The team understood it and were eager to take on the challenge.
By noon Tuesday, the team had programmed the machines and was working closely together to produce the transformers.
Impact
The team’s commitment to the mission was inspiring. Within 48 hours of the initial call, the team had produced and shipped the first truckload of 74 transformers. The final truckload left the American Products facility on time Friday afternoon.
The customer received the whole of their order in the time they requested. The American Products team came together to ensure the order was fulfilled in time, while still maintaining a high level of quality. The team showed their willingness and ability to quickly switch focus to take on projects with tight deadlines.
The customer was able to continue with their plans for restoring power within their planned timeframe. The project was not delayed by late transformers.
The customer trusted the American Products team was the only company that could fulfill such a large order in a tight timeframe without sacrificing quality. The American Products team delivered on those expectations.
